Foundation Phase Co-Education for the Future
From Grade 000 to Grade R
Northlands Pre-Primary School is the perfect starting point to your child’s educational journey. Encompassing Grade 000, Grade 00 and Grade R, we endeavour to instil the fundamental learning concepts required for formal learning in a friendly and stimulating environment. Our school day is the perfect balance of exploratory play and relationship building and carefully executed teacher-led lessons.
We are situated on the same leafy grounds as the main school campus and enjoys the benefits of the world class facilities offered at Northlands Primary School. We embrace whole based learning where each facet of learning is reached. This is achieved by focusing on the child’s emotional, physical and cognitive development.
Classes
The teachers in the Pre-Primary are fully qualified Foundation Phase teachers assisted by full time teacher assistants, allowing for an effective teacher: learner ratio. There are 3 classes in Gr 000 and Grade 00 and 4 classes in Gr R.
Intra Murals
During their school day our children enjoy library, computer classes, music & drama – all with dedicated specialist teachers. Swimming and PE is conducted with trained sports coaches on the main fields and in the pool. They also attend weekly movement classes with our in-house Occupational therapist who focuses on building essential muscles as well as teaching self-regulatory methods to the children. We also have baking with aunty Maureen, a highlight of the week for all our learners as we learn to bake whilst conversing in basic Zulu.
Extra Murals
Our learners have access to Zulu lessons, Speech & Drama, Coding & Robotics, Ballet and Karate as additional extra murals.
Additional Support
Our academic support unit and counselling office are both available to support our Pre-Primary learners and their families. Our close proximity to the Junior Primary staff, specialist teachers and the use of the Primary schools’ grounds allow not only for a firm foundation but an easy transition into formal schooling as they move up into the main school for Grade 1.
We have the convenience of having access to Private Speech Therapists and Private Occupational Therapists on our premises at school, which allows for minor and major difficulties to be assessed and resolved early on, with continued intervention available as needed.
Aftercare
We have a dedicated aftercare facility catering just to the Pre-Primary children. This facility runs during the school term until 17h00 Monday – Friday. The fees are available on the admissions page.
Investing in a high-quality Pre-Primary education from an early age is an essential step in laying a strong, vital foundation for children to thrive in school and life. We look forward to growing with your child.
