Clubs & Activities

Northlands Primary School prides itself on offering something for every child – a holistic approach to education. Not every child is born for the sports fields. Whilst we encourage participation in at least one sport and one club or activity a term, we acknowledge the need for a very diverse offer in our extra-curricular programme.

We encourage a love for the environment with our Green Hearts Club who partake in regular beach clean-ups as well as drive the recycling programme at Northlands.

Our Chess programme remains a very popular option for learners, and we continue to host the D&D Chess Trials as well as the annual Chess D& D tournament annually.

We offer Drama for Grades 4 to 7, which are often lively sessions and make use of our theatre space!

Debating continues to develop with learners in Grade 6 & 7 learning the fine art of making your point.

Junior Primary Choir is offered to our Grade 3 learners, and we also have a Senior Primary Choir from Grade 4 to 7. Our choir attends local festivals and are often part of our assembly presentations and school productions. Our Marimba band is proving a hit at school functions, and Mrs Maré continues to grow her budding orchestra. Private music lessons are offered on site at a nominal cost for your convenience.

Our Art room is an endless source of inspiration and originality, and Mrs H continues to push creative boundaries with her Art Club students.

The Coding & Robotics programme often takes centre stage when it comes to choosing an extra mural, as this dynamic department continues to update their offer. Our learners have participated in the Lego league for the past two years and also took part in the Mandela Day Unplugged Coding event, winning the Primary Schools division. This programme is run in addition to the lesson time offered as a part of our curriculum.
