Academic Support
Our Academic Support Unit at Northlands Primary caters to both the Junior and Senior Primary Sections of the school. Each unit caters to their specific phase ensuring every student receives the assistance they need to thrive academically. Whether your child requires additional help in mastering fundamental skills like reading, writing, or maths, we have a range of resources and programs to meet their needs. From one-on-one tutoring sessions after to school to specific groups of children to small group interventions, our goal is to foster a supportive learning environment where every child can reach their full potential. It also allows us early intervention strategies for our learners who may need academic support at some point in their school career. By partnering with parents and caregivers, we can ensure that each student receives the support they need both inside and outside the classroom. This unit also allows pupils returning to mainstream from short term remedial schools to transition smoothly back into mainstream.
We also have facilities to house speech and occupational therapists as well as an educational therapist to assist with assessments should they be required.
Counselling support
Whether facing academic challenges, social pressures, or personal struggles, it has been hugely beneficial to have a counselling therapist who is on hand to give emotional support and coping strategies to many of our learners. Life is sometimes confusing and hard, having someone to talk about it to can be life-changing. Having an accessible in-house counsellor allows our learners to seek support without the barriers of transportation, time or scheduling conflicts within the family group. Our counselling unit provides a vital resource within the school grounds and during the school day which fosters a positive and supportive atmosphere at our school. Early intervention and collaboration with teachers can prevent challenges from escalating and proper referral protocols to be adhered to. This ensures that our learners receive the support they need to thrive in the school and home environment.
